A Clear Guide to Fine Lines & Wrinkles

As a professional in aesthetics, I know how overwhelming it can feel to navigate the many treatment options for fine lines and wrinkles. From terms like exosomes and P R P to newer treatments like salmon DNA facials, it’s a lot to process. My goal is to simplify this for you. I like to think of treatments in categories: Good, Better, and Best.

When deciding what’s right for you, it helps to consider three things:

  1. Time – How long will the treatment take?
  2. Downtime – How much recovery time can you allow for?
  3. Personal Preference – Do you prefer a relaxing treatment or one that delivers results with a bit more intensity?

Let’s break it down.

Best Treatments – Gold Standard Results

1. Morpheus 8

  • Why it’s the best: Morpheus 8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production like no other treatment.
  • What to expect: This is not the most comfortable treatment, but at SHarper, we apply a topical numbing cream for one hour prior to the procedure to make it more tolerable. Approximately 70% of patients also choose to add laughing gas for additional comfort.
  • Treatment plan: Most patients begin with 3 treatments for optimal results. For those with mature skin, up to 6 treatments may be necessary. Annual maintenance treatments are recommended to sustain results as skin continues to age naturally.
  • Downtime: Expect up to one week of redness and mild healing. The results are well worth it.

2. Neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Daxxify)

  • How it works: Neuromodulators soften existing wrinkles and prevent new ones by relaxing targeted facial muscles.
  • Best areas: Forehead lines, “11s” between the brows, and crow’s feet.
  • Results: Visible softening within 3-7 days, lasting 3-6 months depending on the product.

3. Hyperdilute Radiesse

  • What sets it apart: Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, Hyperdilute Radiesse is thinned out to act as a scaffold, encouraging your body to produce its own collagen and elastin.
  • Why it’s effective: It works beautifully in combination with Morpheus 8 to rejuvenate the skin at multiple layers.

Better Treatments – Effective with Less Downtime

1. Microneedling with Exosomes

  • Beyond basic microneedling: While microneedling alone works well for younger patients addressing pores and acne scarring, adding exosomes elevates the results significantly.
  • Why exosomes: Exosomes are precursors to stem cells, which deliver consistent, impressive results. They also reduce redness, making this an excellent choice for patients with melasma.
  • Downtime: About 3 days of redness and mild peeling.

2. Tox Facial

  • What it is: This no-downtime treatment uses a microchanneling device to infuse a custom serum with neuromodulators into the skin’s surface. The result is smoother, glowing skin with minimized fine lines.
  • Pro Tip: As advancements continue, treatments like this may soon incorporate salmon DNA facials for even greater benefits.

Good Treatments – Maintenance and Prevention

1. Glo2 Facial

  • Why it’s effective: This customizable facial uses oxygenation and specialized treatment pods to address texture and tone while delivering relaxation.
  • What it includes: At SHarper, we add dermaplaning and cryoglobes to reduce undereye puffiness and enhance results.
  • Frequency: Most patients include this facial as part of a monthly membership, rotating in more intensive treatments like microneedling, Tox facials, or lasers throughout the year.
  • Downtime: None. This is an ideal treatment for ongoing skin health.

2. SHarpen Up Laser Facial (Avon Only)

  • What it is: A no-downtime option using Laser Genesis technology to soften fine lines and wrinkles over time.
  • Why patients love it: Monthly members often upgrade to this treatment to supplement their skincare routine.

At-Home Skincare – Supporting Your Results

1. TNS Essential Serum

  • Why it’s worth the investment ($315): This serum uses human growth factors to repair and rejuvenate your skin at a cellular level. Both Dr. Stan and I use this product daily, and the difference in skin quality is noticeable when we run out.

2. ZO Growth Factor

  • A great alternative: This plant-based serum works similarly to TNS but at a more accessible price point.
  • Who it’s for: Patients seeking an effective growth factor product to maintain healthy, youthful skin.
